คุณจัน เป็นบุตรีคนแรกของจอมร้างบ้านเคียน[4] ซึ่งเกิดจากนางหม้าเสี้ย มีพี่น้องร่วมบิดา มารดาเดียวกัน 5 คน เมื่ออายุสมควรจะมีเรือน บิดามารดาก็ได้จัดการแต่งงานให้กับหม่อมภักดีภูธร (สามีคนแรก) มีธิดา 1 คน คือแม่ปราง และบุตร 1 คน คือนายเทียน (ต้นสกุล ประทีป ณ ถลาง) หลังจากคลอดนายเทียน หม่อมภักดีภูธรเสียชีวิตลง คุณจันอยู่เป็นหม้ายจนกระทั่งแต่งงานครั้งที่สองกับพระยาพิมลอัยา (ขัน) ภายหลังเป็นพระยาสุรินทราชาพิมลอัยา (ขัน) มีบุตรธิดาอีก 2 คน คุณจันเป็นผู้ประกอบด้วยความงาม มีอัธยาศัยสุภาพอ่อนโยน และมีความกล้าหาญเด็ดเดี่ยวสมกับเป็นบุตรของจอมร้างบ้านเคียน จึงเป็นที่สนิทเสน่าหาของบิดามารดาและวงศ์ญาติทั้งหลาย เมื่อบิดามารดาแก่เฒ่า คุณจันก็ได้รับภาระปกครองผู้คนบ่าวไพร่ และดูแลการงานภายในครอบครัวแทนบิดามารดาโดยสิทธิ์ขาดเพราะเป็นพี่คนโต

อนุสาวรีย์[แก้]
อนุสาวรีย์ของทั้งสองท่านตั้งอยู่ที่วงเวียนสี่แยกท่าเรือ ตำบลศรีสุนทร อำเภอถลาง จังหวัดภูเก็ต สร้างขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2509 [9] จากหลักฐานสำคัญในจดหมายเหตุเมืองถลาง 6 ฉบับ เพื่อเป็นการเสริมและสนองพระราชดำริในพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวในคราวเสด็จเปิดถนนสายถลาง ที่ได้พระราชทานนามว่า ถนนเทพกระษัตรี และได้มีการตั้งชื่อตำบลในภูเก็ต 2 ตำบลตามท้าวเทพกระษัตรี ท้าวศรีสุนทร คือตำบลเทพกระษัตรี และตำบลศรีสุนทรโดยจะมีการจัดงานรำลึกถึงท่านทุกปี [10] [11]
