In literacy this week we have been looking at poems! We learnt a poem called 'Five little senses' and we used this throughout the week. We created actions for the poem, and we thought about which words in the poem rhymed. This poem to help us to use our senses to describe different objects. We wrote poems about natural objects like sticks, stones, shells and we even tasted an orange and wrote about it! We also wrote about what we like to look at, touch, smell, listen to and taste.
In maths we have been solving sharing problems. We used objects around the room and shared these between children, cups or plates to help us share equally. By the end of the week the children would sometimes think about the problem in their heads and know the answer before they shared the objects!
In science we have been continuing our learning on naming locally grown plants. This week the children learnt to name marigolds, sunflower, orchids, lotuses, amaranths and roses. We planted sunflowers, marigolds and lotuses and labelled our plant pots!
In topic we have started to learn about maps and globes. We looked at where Thailand is, and where some of the other countries the children are interested in are. The children seemed very interested in knowing where Japan and England are! In the role play area we have a travel agents and the children have really enjoyed booking holidays and finding the location of their holiday on the globe.
In art the children designed a 3d flower arrangement. They drew a diagram of their design and they thought about all the materials they would need, and they wrote some instructions. We will be using these plans to make our designs next week!
In ICT we listened to 'talking stories'. The children selected a story to listen to, and clicked on the red words to find out what they mean. The children completed interactive activities throughout the stories.
Finally, the children took part in games day! All the children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. They were enthusiastic, they listened to the instructions, and they tried really hard. I really liked that they supported each other during the activities.
