เมื่อวันที่ 13 ม.ค.2558 พล.ต.สรรเสริญ แก้วกำเนิด รองโฆษกประจำสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี แถลงภายหลังการประชุมคณะรัฐมนตรี(ครม.)ว่า ครม.เห็นชอบอนุมัติงบประมาณ 30 ล้านบาท ช่วยเหลือประเทศเพื่อนบ้านคือ เมียนมาร์ ลาว กัมพูชา เวียดนาม ป้องกันสกัดกั้นยาเสพติดไม่ให้ไหลเข้ามาในประเทศไทย โดยให้จัดสรรเงินเป็นสัดส่วนดังนี้ เมียนมาร์จำนวน 20 ล้านบาท ลาวจำนวน 1.5 ล้านบาท กัมพูชาจำนวน 5 ล้านบาท เวียดนามจำนวน 3 ล้านบาท เพื่อเป็นการแสดงความตั้งใจจริงที่จะช่วยเหลือประเทศเพื่อนบ้านและเพื่อป้องกันไม่ให้ยาเสพติดไหลทะลักเข้ามาประเทศไทย

พล.ต.สรรเสริญ กล่าวอีกว่า นอกจากนี้ครม.ยังมีมติเห็นชอบดำเนินการตามคำขอของกระทรวงพัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมนุษย์ (พม.) ให้มีการบริจาคเงินเข้ากองทุนสหประชาชาติ เพื่อช่วยเหลือผู้เสียหายจากการค้ามนุษย์ ครั้งที่ 2 เป็นจำนวนเงินเดิมตั้งแต่ครั้งที่ 1 คือ 25,000 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐ ซึ่งเป็นจำนวนเงินที่ไม่สูงมาก แต่ว่าเป็นการแสดงออกถึงความตั้งใจจริงของรัฐบาลที่จะแก้ไขปัญหาการค้ามนุษย์ ซึ่งปัจจุบันมีผลกระทบเพราะประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาและประเทศทางสหภาพยุโรปนั้นจับตามองอยู่ และลดระดับความน่าเชื่อถือต่อสถานการณ์การค้ามนุษย์ในไทยลงมาเป็น เทียร์ 3 ซึ่งที่ผ่านมารัฐบาลได้ดำเนินการแก้ไขแล้วอย่างเป็นระบบ มีการตั้งคณะกรรมการในระดับนโยบายแล้ว คือ คณะกรรมการนโยบายป้องกันการค้ามนุษย์และการประมงที่ผิดกฎหมาย และอนุกรรมการ 5 ส่วน คือคณะอนุกรรมการปราบปรามการค้ามนุษย์ คณะอนุกรรมการเกี่ยวกับแรงงานเด็กหรือแรงงานต่างด้าว คณะอนุกรรมการเกี่ยวกับสตรี คณะอนุกรรมการว่าด้วยการประมงผิดกฎหมาย และคณะอนุกรรมการประชาสัมพันธ์ ที่ต้องทำความเข้าใจกับต่างประเทศให้เข้าใจว่าทางเราได้แก้ปัญหาทั้งระบบ มีการขับเคลื่อนให้เกิดผล มีการรายงานผลให้ทางประเทศในยุโรปและสหรัฐฯ ได้มั่นใจว่าเราได้ดำเนินการจริง เอาผิดผู้เกี่ยวข้องทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชน รายงานความคืบหน้าของคดีอย่างชัดเจน มีตารางเวลาชัดเจน
