ขั้นตอนการให้บริการวิชาชีพของสถาปนิก สถาปนิกจะทำการบริการวิชาชีพตามขั้นตอนต่อไปนี้1. ออกแบบเบื้องต้น (Schematic Design)2. ออกแบบรายละเอียด (Design Development หรือ DD)3. ทำแบบก่อสร้าง (Construction Document)4. การประมูลและเจรจาต่อรอง (Bidding and Negotiation)5. บริหารงานก่อสร้าง (Construction Administration)ในบางโครงการ อาจจะมีการเข้าไปรับงานเป็นทีม โดยเจ้าของทำสัญญากับทีมก่อสร้างเพียงสัญญาเดียว ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วย ผู้รับเหมาก่อสร้าง สถาปนิก และ ที่ปรึกษาอื่นๆ รวมตัวกันเป็นหนึ่ง โดยการทำสัญญาโดยตรงนี้ จะเรียกว่า เป็นการบริการแบบ ดีไซน์บิลด์ (Design Build)
