วันที่ 14 พฤศจิกายน 2557 เอเอฟพีรายงานว่า บารัค โอบามา ประธานาธิบดีของสหรัฐอเมริกา ได้เดินทางไปพบกับนางออง ซาน ซูจี ผู้นำฝ่ายค้านของพม่า ที่บ้านพักนางซูจี ในนครย่างกุ้ง เพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับการปฏิรูปการเมืองของพม่า และการเลือกตั้งทั่วไปในปี 2558
