การประชุมหารือเต็มคณะระหว่างคณะทำงานเศรษฐกิจไทยและญี่ปุ่นระดับสูง (High Level Joint Committee) ระหว่างวันที่ 25-28 พ.ย.58 ณ ประเทศญี่ปุ่น มีประเด็นสรุปได้ดังนี้ 1.แม้ญี่ปุ่นยังลงทุนในไทยมากเป็นอันดับ 1 แต่สัดส่วนการลงทุนลดลงมากจาก 25.8% ในปี 2552 เหลือเพียง 19.2% ในปี 2557 ขณะที่ FDI จากญี่ปุ่นได้เปลี่ยนรูปแบบจากธุรกิจขนาดใหญ่ อาทิ ยานยนต์และอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ โดยลงทุนเพื่อขยายกิจการมากกว่าที่จะลงทุนใหม่ มาเป็นธุรกิจ SMEs มากขึ้น2. ญี่ปุ่นสนใจเส้นทางรถไฟสายกาญจนบุรี-กรุงเทพฯ-สระแก้ว-แหลมฉบัง ระยะทาง 574 กม. เพราะสามารถเชื่อมต่อไปยังเขตศก.พิเศษทวายของเมียนมาได้3.
