ประเภทของแบบทดสอบ
1. แบ่งตามสมรรถภาพที่จะวัด แบ่งเป็น 3 ประเภท คือ
1.1. แบบทดสอบผลสัมฤทธิ์(Achievement Test) หมายถึง แบบทดสอบที่วัดความรู้ ทักษะ ที่บุคคลได้รับการเรียนรู้มาในอดีต
1.2. แบบทดสอบความถนัด(Aptitude Test) หมายถึง แบบทดสอบที่ใช้วัดสมรรถภาพทางสมองเกี่ยวกับความสามารถในการปฎิบัติกิจกรรม การทำงานให้บรรลุผลสำเร็จด้วยความถูกต้องแม่นยำ ชำนาญและคล่องแคล้ว
1.3. แบบทดสอบบุคคล-สังคม(Personal-Social Test) หรือแบบทดสอบการปรับตัว(Adjustment) หมายถึงแบบทดสอบที่ใช้วัดบุคลิกภาพ (Personality) และการปรับตัวให้เข้ากับสังคม
2. แบ่งตามลักษณะของการกระทำหรือการตอบ แบ่งได้ดังนี้
2.1 แบบให้ลงมือกระทำ(Performance Test) แบบทดสอบภาคปฏิบัติทั้งหลาย
2.2 แบบให้เขียนตอบ(Paper-Pencil Test) แบบทดสอบข้อเขียน
2.3 การสอบปากเปล่า(Oral Test) การสอบสัมภาษณ์นั่นเอง
