อาชีพครูเป็นอาชีพที่มีเกียรติ เสียสระ เหมือนกับคำกล่าวที่ว่า “ครูเปรียบเสมือนเรือจ้าง” “ครูเป็นแม่พิมพ์ของชาติ” ในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของครูจึงจำเป็นต้องตั้งอยู่บนความดี เพื่อเป็นแบบอย่างให้กับลูกศิษย์ ที่จะนำเอาครูไปเป็นแบบอย่างทั้งในเรื่องการทำงานและการใช้ชีวิตประจำวัน ครูจึงมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อลูกศิษย์ แนวทางในการที่จะประสบความสำเร็จในอาชีพครูต้องมีองค์ประกอบทั้งในด้านคุณธรรม จริยธรรมและด้านการพัฒนาตนเอง
ด้านคุณธรรมในด้านคุณธรรมก็เหมือนคำกล่าวที่ว่า “ครูเป็นแม่พิมพ์ของชาติ”ครูต้องเป็นแบบอย่างทีดีให้กับลูกศิษย์ และต้องปฏิบัติหน้าที่ที่ตั้งอยู่บนความดี ครูต้องมีความซื่อสัตย์ไม่นำเอาชีพครูไปทำในสิ่งที่ไม่ดีและไม่หาผลประโยชน์ส่วนตนต้องปกป้องศักดิ์ศรี และ ภูมิใจในอาชีพครู ครูต้องมีความรัก มีความเมตตา มีคุณธรรมต่อศิษย์คิดว่าลูกศิษย์เปรียบเสมือนเป็นลูกของตนเอง และมีความเสียสระประโยชน์ส่วนตนเพื่อประโยชน์ส่วนรวม
ครูต้องมีวินัยในตนเอง ยึดมั่นในจรรยาบรรณของอาชีพครู และดำเนินชีวิตอยู่อย่างเป็นธรรมไม่เอนเอียง
ด้านการสอนครูต้องศึกษาหลักสูตรวิชาชีพครูอย่างถ่องแท้และลึกซึ้ง ครูมีหน้าที่สอนต้องสอนให้สุดความสามารถ ถ่ายทอดความรู้ให้ดี มีการพัฒนาตนเองอยู่เสมอในด้านการหานวัตกรรมที่ใหม่ๆ หาเอกสารมาเสริมความรู้ให้กับนักเรียน ครูต้องมีความตั้งใจปฏิบัติหน้าที่ มุ่งมั่น อดทน อดกลั้นต่ออุปสรรค์ปัญหาต่างๆ ครูต้องเป็นนักวางแผนที่ดี เป็นทั้งผู้ให้และผู้รับ
ด้านเทคโนโลยี ในปัจจุบันสังคมไทยมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วทั้งในด้านการเมือง เศรษฐกิจและสังคม ความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ตลอดจนเทคโนโลยีเข้ามามีบทบาทในการศึกษาค้นคว้าหาข้อมูลใหม่ๆ และทันสมัย เพื่อมาประกอบในการทำกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนมากขึ้น ครูจึงจำเป็นต้องพัฒนาระบบการศึกษา ทำให้ครูผู้สอนมีความรู้ความสามารถ และทักษะ มีคุณธรรมให้ทันต่อความเจริญก้าวหน้าที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป สามารถพึ่งตนเองได้ ตลอดจนการนำเทคโนโลยีที่เหมาะสมมาใช้ในการพัฒนาคุณภาพการเรียนการสอน ดังนั้นจึงมีความจำเป็นที่จะต้องพัฒนาสื่อการเรียนการสอนให้สอดคล้องกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสังคมและหลักนิยมของโรงเรียน
ด้านความรู้ความสามารถครูที่จะเป็นผู้ที่มีความรู้ความสามารถ จะต้องฝึกฝนมั่นศึกษาหาความรู้อยู่อย่างสม่ำเสมอมีการปรับตัวให้ทันกับความรู้ใหม่ มีความคิดริเริ่มสร้างสรรค์เพื่อเป็นการเลี่ยนบรรยากาศในการเรียนการสอนไม่ให้เกิดความซ้ำซาก
ด้านบุคลิกภาพ/ทัศนคติครูต้องมีทัศนคติที่ดี รักความเป็นครูมีความสุขกับการทำงาน ทำให้นักเรียนยอมรับและเคารพให้ได้และต้องรู้จักตนเองให้ถ่องแท้
