ในปีต่อมา เมื่อพระองค์ท่านเสด็จเยี่ยมราษฎร ที่จังหวัดขอนแก่นอีกครั้งราษฎรผู้นั้นได้มาเฝ้า และทูลพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวว่า "ไปใส่ฟันมาแล้ว ตามที่ในหลวงแนะนำ ตอนนี้กินอะไรได้ สบายแล้ว" เมื่อได้ฟัง ทำให้คิดว่า เรื่องการใส่ฟันเป็นเรื่องสำคัญ ทรงมีพระราชดำรัสว่า “เวลาไม่มีฟัน ทำให้กินอะไรไม่อร่อย ทำให้ไม่มีความสุข จิตใจก็ไม่สบาย ร่างกายก็ไม่แข็งแรง” ด้วยเหตุนี้ หน่วยทันตกรรมพระราชทาน จึงสนองพระราชดำรัส ทำให้มีการใส่ฟันให้กับราษฎรที่ยากไร้ และด้อยโอกาสในหน่วยเคลื่อนที่นั้น และในเดือนตุลาคม พ.ศ.2546 พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวได้ ร.9 พระราชทานรถใส่ฟันเคลื่อนที่ ซึ่งเป็นรถใส่ฟันเคลื่อนที่คันแรก ในประเทศไทย ให้หน่วยทันตกรรมฯ ไปใช้

โครงการทันตกรรมพระราชทานอื่นๆ
