  การฟ้อนรำเป็นเอกลักษณ์อันโดดเด่นของล้านนา ที่แสดงออกถึงลักษณะนิสัยความอ่อนน้อม และละมุนละไมในการดำเนินชีวิตภายใต้ความเชื่อ ความศรัทธาต่อพระพุทธศาสนา

ฟ้อนล้านนา มีต้นกำเนิดมาจากการร่ายรำเพื่อประกอบพิธีกรรม ให้สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์เกิดความพึงพอใจ ท่วงท่าการรำแต่ดั้งเดิม ไม่มีแบบแผน แต่แสดงออกมาจากความปลื้มปิติยินดี มีความสุขสนุกสนานเจือปนอยู่ เช่น ฟ้อนผี ฟ้อนแห่ครัวทาน เป็นต้น ต่อมาในราวรัชกาลที่ 6 พระราชชายาเจ้าดารารัศมีในพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว พระธิดาในพระเจ้าอินทวิชยานนท์ เจ้าเมืองเชียงใหม่ ได้รวมท่าฟ้อนรำพื้นเมืองมาเรียบเรียงให้มีแบบแผน และกลายเป็นชุดฟ้อนที่รู้จักกันในปัจจุบัน ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมเชียงใหม่เล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญของการแสดงเหล่านี้ จึงได้นำมาเป็นการแสดงสำหรับนักท่องเที่ยว นอกจากนี้ยังมีฟ้อนรำของท้องถิ่นอื่นๆ ในล้านนาด้วย มีทั้งหมด 13 การแสดงดังนี้

1.ฟ้อนเล็บ
