การศึกษาครั้งนี้เพื่อต้องการศึกษารูปแบบการจัดการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษ (1) ปัญหาและความต้องการในการจัดการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษของครูในระดับประถมศึกษาในเขตภาคเหนือตอนบน (2)กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ครูสอนภาษาอังกฤษระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ในปีการศึกษา 2559 จำนวน 26 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบสอบถาม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลที่ได้ด้วยวิธีทางสถิติเพื่อหาค่าร้อยละ คะแนนเฉลี่ยและส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า (1)รูปแบบการจัดการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษที่ใช้กันในระดับมากไม่ได้เป็นรูปแบบการสอนที่เน้นการสื่อสาร เช่น ให้นักเรียนเปิดหาความหมายจากพจนานุกรภาษาอังกฤษ ครูอธิบายหลักโครงสร้างไวยากรณ์ละยกตัวอย่าง แล้วให้นักเรียนทาแบบฝึกหัด ส่วนการประเมินผล ครูให้คะแนนชิ้นงานและใช้แบบทดสอบ ในการสอบท้ายบทหรือสอบปลายภาค และมีการจัดให้มีป้ายคำศัพท์และรูปภาพในห้องเรียนหรือบริเวณรอบ ๆ เพื่อเอื้อหรือสร้างบรรยากาศที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ (2)ด้านปัญหาที่พบมากคือ นักเรียนขาดแรงจูงใจและไม่เห็นความสำคัญของภาษาอังกฤษ และความต้องการที่ครูต้องการมากที่สุด คือ การสนับสนุนด้านการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษ
