ประวัติวันสถาปนา มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต
หลังจาก วิทยาลัยรังสิต ยกระดับมาเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต ก็ได้รับพระมหากรุณาธิคุณจาก สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าโปรดกระหม่อม เสด็จพระราชดำเนินทรงเป็นองค์ประธานในพิธีสถาปนา มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต เมื่อเวลา ๑๕.๐๐น. ของวัน พฤหัสบดีที่ ๒๙ พฤษจิกายน พ.ศ.๒๕๓๓ ถือเป็นวันสถาปนา มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต แต่ทางมหาวิทยาลัยรังสิตยังคงจัดพิธีรำลึกการสถาปนามหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต ในวันที่ ๒๕ มกราคม ของทุกๆปี ซึ่งเป็นวันจัดตั้ง วิทยาลัยรังสิต มาจนถึงปัจจุบัน

เมื่อวันที่ 16 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2527 นายประสิทธิ์ อุไรรัตน์ ประธานกรรมการ บริษัท ประสิทธิ์พัฒนา จำกัด ผู้ดำเนินกิจการโรงพยาบาลพญาไทในขณะนั้น พร้อมด้วย พลเอกพร ธนะภูมิ และ นายอาทิตย์ อุไรรัตน์ ได้ยื่นความประสงค์ เพื่อขอรับใบอนุญาตจัดตั้งสถาบันอุดมศึกษา ระดับวิทยาลัย ต่อทบวงมหาวิทยาลัย (ปัจจุบันคือ สำนักงานคณะกรรมการการอุดมศึกษา)
ในวันที่ 25 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2528 ทบวงมหาวิทยาลัย ออกประกาศจัดตั้ง วิทยาลัยรังสิต ลงนามโดย นายปรีดา พัฒนถาบุตร รัฐมนตรีว่าการทบวงมหาวิทยาลัยในขณะนั้น และประกาศลงในราชกิจจานุเบกษา เล่มที่ 102 ตอนที่ 28 ก ฉบับพิเศษ หน้า 5 เมื่อวันที่ 1 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2528 โดยเป็นไปตามที่ระบุใน ใบอนุญาตจัดตั้งสถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชน ที่ 2/2528
มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต ร่วมพิธีห่มผ้าพระศรีศาสดา พร้อมตักบาตรข้าวสารอาหารแห้งพระสงฆ์ 99 รูป เนื่องในโอกาสวันคล้ายวันสถาปนา รำลึกผู้ก่อตั้งมหาวิทยาลัยรังสิตปีที่ 28 และรับสิ่งของบริจาคถวายให้กับวัดพระบาทน้ำพุ ในวันศุกร์ที่ 25 มกราคม 2556 ตั้งแต่เวลา 07.00 - 09.30 น. ณ บริเวณ หน้ามณฑปพระศรีศาสดา และขอเชิญเข้าร่วมพิธีสมโภชองค์สุริยเทพ
