การบำบัดอาการปวดหลัง มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อ ลดอาการปวด สามารถเคลื่อนไหวร่างกายและใช้ชีวิตประจำวันได้ปกติ ป้องกันการเกิดอาการปวดซ้ำโดยเฉพาะผู้ที่มีสาเหตุมาจากการเคลื่อนไหวไม่ถูกสุขลักษณะ แนวทางในการรักษาอาการปวดหลังแบ่งเป็น 2 ชนิด คือการรักษาโดยวิธีอนุรักษ์ (conservative treatment) และการผ่าตัด (Surgical treatment)
