ปัจจุบันนี้การศึกษาไทยมีการพัฒนามากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ เพื่อให้ก้าวทันประเทศที่มีความเจริญทั้งทางด้านการศึกษา เศรษฐกิจ และสังคม โดยเน้นให้ผู้เรียนมีความรู้รอบด้านและสามารถนาไปใช้ได้ในทุกๆสายอาชีพ ดังตอนนี้จะเห็นได้ว่า การศึกษาไม่ว่าจะชาติใด ประเทศใดก็จะให้ความสำคัญกับภาษาอังกฤษเป็นอย่างมาก เพราะภาษาอังกฤษถือว่าเป็นภาษาสากลที่ใช้เกือบทั่วทุกมุมโลก รวมทั้งยังเป็นภาษาที่สอดคล้องกับการทางานร่วมกันของประเทศสมาชิกในประชาคมอาเซียน ซึ่งได้มีการออกกฎบัตรอาเซียนที่บัญญัติไว้ว่า “The working language of ASEAN shall be English”
