ประวัติ
วัดพนัญเชิงเป็นวัดที่มีประวัติอันยาวนานก่อสร้างก่อนการสถาปนากรุงศรีอยุธยาและไม่ปรากฏหลักฐานที่แน่ชัดว่าใครเป็นผู้สร้างตามหนังสือพงศาวดารเหนือกล่าวว่าพระเจ้าสายน้ำผึ้งเป็นผู้สร้างและพระราชทานนามว่าวัดเจ้าพระนางเชิงและในพงศาวดารฉบับหลวงประเสริฐกล่าวไว้ว่าได้มีการสถาปนาพระพุทธรูปพุทธชื่อ”พระเจ้าพแนงเชิง”เมื่อปีพ.ศ.๑๘๖๗ซึ่งก่อนพระเจ้าอู่ทองจะสถาปนากรุงศรีอยุธยาถึง ๒๖ ปี

๓.งานทิ้งกระจาดหรืองานงิ้วเดือน๙จะมีงิ้วและมหรสพอื่นๆเล่นประชันกันอย่างครึกโครมจะมีผู้คนนับหมื่นหลั่งไหลกันมานมัสการนับเป็นงานทิ้งกระจาดที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทยทีเดียว
