เมื่อพระนางสิริมหามายาประสูติพระโอรสได้ 7 วัน แล้วสิ้นพระชนม์เสด็จสู่สวรรค์ชั้นดุสิต พระอินทร์นำพระพุทธเจ้าขึ้นไปทรงแสดงพระธรรมเทศนาประทานพระนางสิริมหามายา และนางก็บรรลุโสดาปัตติผลที่สวรรค์นั้นเอง
