ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลให้หมู่บ้านมีสภาพความเป็นอยู่ดังเช่นปัจจุบัน บ้านเหล่ามะละกอ หมู่ที่ 15 ตำบลทุ่งหลวง อำเภอปากท่อ จังหวัดราชบุรี ประชากรส่วนใหญ่ประกอบอาชีพการเกษตร ปลูกพืชผัก ผลไม้ และเลี้ยงสัตว์ แต่เดิมทำการเกษตรโดยใช้ปุ๋ยเคมี และสารเคมีเป็นหลัก ทำให้ต้นทุนในการผลิตสูง สิ่งแวดล้อมเสียหาย เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่เป็นหนี้ ดินเสื่อมคุณภาพในปัจจุบันเกษตรกรส่วนหนึ่งได้รวมกลุ่มกันทำการเกษตรอินทรีย์ขึ้น เพื่อต้องการผลิตผักอนามัยปลอดสารพิษ ไว้บริโภคในครัวเรือน และจำหน่าย ตามนโยบายของรัฐบาล และแผนยุทธศาสตร์การพัฒนาจังหวัดราชบุรี โดยได้จัดตั้งกลุ่มเกษตรอินทรีย์ในหมู่บ้านขึ้น โดยแผนที่จะดำเนินการ 5 กิจกรรม คือ การผลิตปุ๋ยหมัก การผลิตปุ๋ยอินทรีย์น้ำและฮอร์โมน การผลิตสารสมุนไพรป้องกันโรคพืช สารสมุนไพรไล่แมลง และการผลิตพืชผักผลไม้อนามัยปลอดสารพิษ โดยได้จดทะเบียนกลุ่มเป็นวิสาหกิจชุมชน การดำเนินงานของกลุ่มฯ ได้ดำเนินการไปแล้ว 3 กิจกรรมคือ การผลิตปุ๋ยหมัก การผลิตปุ๋ยอินทรีย์และฮอร์โมน การผลิตสารสมุนไพรป้องกันโรคและแมลง ผลการดำเนินการทั้ง 3 กิจกรรม ทำให้เกษตรกรและครัวเรือนยากจนที่เข้าร่วมโครงการสามารถลดต้นทุนในการผลิต ลดปัญหาด้านสุขภาพอนามัยจากการได้รับสารพิษจากสารเคมี ทำให้สภาพดินและสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชนดีขึ้น นอกจากการดำเนินการกิจกรรมดังกล่าวของหมู่บ้านแล้ว หมู่บ้านยังส่งเสริมให้มีการระดมทุนและการออมของคนในชุมชนอีกทางหนึ่งด้วย ทำให้หมู่บ้านได้รับรางวัล หมู่บ้าน “อยู่เย็น เป็นสุข “
