การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน (Mix Method) โดยใช้การวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ(Quantitative Research) และการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการตัดสินใจจัดฟันแฟชั่นของนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษา อำเภอสูงเนิน จังหวัดนครราชสีมา ประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้คือ กลุ่มนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาที่จัดฟันแฟชั่นจำนวนทั้งหมด 66 คน ทั้ง 4 โรงเรียน ได้แก่ โรงเรียนสูงเนิน โรงเรียนวังรางพิทยาคม โรงเรียนสองครพิทยา และโรงเรียนกุดจิกวิทยา ทำการเก็บข้อมูลระหว่างเดือนกันยายน 2558 ถึงเดือนพฤศจิกายน 2558 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลแบ่งเป็นเชิงปริมาณ(Quantitative Research) และเชิงคุณภาพ(Qualitative Research) ซึ่งเชิงปริมาณได้แก่ แบบสอบถามจากการเกี่ยวกับปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการตัดสินใจจัดฟันแฟชั่นของนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาและแบบบันทึกการตรวจสุขภาพช่องปาก ข้อมูลเชิงพรรณนา นำเสนอด้วยค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่ามัธยฐาน การแจกแจงความถี่และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน เชิงคุณภาพ เก็บรวบรวมจากการโดยการใช้แบบสนทนากลุ่มและการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก

ผลการศึกษา พบว่ากลุ่มเด็กมัธยมศึกษาที่ใช้บริการการจัดฟันแฟชั่นส่วนมากจะเป็นเพศหญิงอายุอยู่ในช่วง 12 – 19 ปี อายุเฉลี่ย 15.77 ปี (ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน 1.476 ปี) สถานที่ที่ไปรับบริการจัดฟันแฟชั่นมากที่สุดคือ คลินิกทันตกรรม โดยรูปแบบที่ทำการติดเครื่องมือมากที่สุดจะเป็นแบบติดแน่นทั้งฟันบนและฟันล่าง ค่าใช้จ่ายอยู่ระหว่าง 600 – 1000 บาท ซึ่งจัดมาแล้วไม่ต่ำกว่า1 – 3 เดือน และส่วนมากพบว่าเป็นการจัดฟันแฟชั่นครั้งแรก การรับรู้ความจำเป็นในการจัดฟัน โดยส่วนใหญ่พบว่านักเรียนมัธยมศึกษามีการรับรู้ความจำเป็นในการจัดฟันอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง
และมีความรู้เกี่ยวกับการจัดฟันอยู่ในระดับสูง จากการสัมภาษณ์พบว่าการจัดฟันแฟชั่นของวัยรุ่นนั้นเกิดจากค่านิยมของความทันสมัย โดยวัยรุ่นให้ความสำคัญของค่านิยมในเรื่องความสวยงามและความทันสมัยมากกว่าการคำนึงถึงความปลอดภัย
