พันเอกเจ้ายอดศึก ผู้นำสูงสุดของ SSA
พันเอกเจ้ายอดศึก ผู้นำสูงสุดของ SSA และ RCSS ได้กล่าวถึงสาเหตุที่ตนเองและประชาชนไทใหญ่เคารพศรัทธาพระเจ้าอยู่หัวของคนไทยเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่า
"ตั้งแต่ผมเป็นผู้นำกองทัพไทใหญ่และมาตั้งฐานอยู่ที่ดอยไตแลง เมื่อปี ๒๕๔๒ เป็นต้นมา ผมจัดพิธีบูชาคารวะสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ และสมเด็จพระราชินีฯ มาตลอดทุกปี ในวันเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา อันที่จริง ผมเริ่มคิดมาตั้งแต่ยุค MTA (พ.ศ.๒๕๒๘ - ๒๕๓๘) ที่ขุนส่าเป็นผู้นำแล้ว แต่ผมยังเป็นนายทหารเล็ก ๆ ทำอะไรไม่ได้ จึงได้แต่เคารพพระองค์ท่านอยู่ในใจ"
ความนับถือในพระราชวงศ์ไทยของผม มีเหตุมาตั้งแต่เมื่อปี พ.ศ.๒๕๒๓ เจ้ากอนเจิง ผู้นำไทใหญ่ ตอนนั้นคัดเลือกผมกับเพื่อนทหารไทใหญ่ ประมาณ ๑๐ คน ไปเป็น รปภ.ร่วมกับหน่วย ตชด.๓๒๗ ของไทย ไปถวายอารักขาสมเด็จพระเทพฯ เมื่อครั้งเสด็จหมู่บ้านเปียงหลวง อ.เวียงแหง จ.เชียงใหม่ ตอนนั้นเป็นเด็ก ผมไม่รู้เรื่องอะไร เขาให้ไปก็ไป ให้จัดแถวก็จัดแถว ผมกับ ตชด.ไทยได้เข้าเฝ้า พระองค์ท่านถามว่า สบายดีหรือเปล่า เป็นไทใหญ่หรือเปล่า อยู่ที่ไหน ผมตอบว่า เป็นไทใหญ่ครับ อยู่บนดอย วันนั้นท่านสอนให้รักสามัคคีกัน ให้เรียนหนังสือให้เก่ง ถ้าเก่งจะทำอะไรก็ง่าย
พอผมอายุ ๒๓ ปี ผมป่วยต้องมาเข้าโรงพยาบาลที่เชียงใหม่ นอนอยู่หลายวันผมได้ดูทีวี ก่อนนั้นไม่เคยดู ผมได้เห็นพระเจ้าอยู่หัวพูดในทีวี ผมฟังเข้าใจบ้างไม่เข้าใจบ้าง มีหมอคนหนึ่งพอพูดภาษาไทใหญ่ได้ เขาเข้ามาพูดคุยให้กำลังใจผม ผมถามหมอ กษัตริย์ของไทยช่วยเหลือคนไทยอย่างไรบ้าง คนไทยเชื่อถือเขาอย่างไร เขาดีหรือเปล่า หมอผู้หญิงอายุประมาณ ๒๕ ปี ตอบดีมาก ตอบให้ผมเข้าใจง่าย ๆ เขาบอกกษัตริย์ของไทยดีไม่ดีเขาไม่พูด แต่คนไทยเชื่อถือมาก เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของประเทศไทย
