ความสำคัญ

ประเพณีบุญข้าวประดับดิน เป็นประเพณีที่จัดขึ้นเพื่ออุทิศส่วนกุศลให้กับผู้ที่ล่วงลับไปแล้ว และเพื่ออุทิศส่วนกุศลให้กับสัตว์นรกหรือเปรต

พิธีกรรม ประกอบด้วย
๑. วันแรม ๑๓ ค่ำ เดือน ๙ ชาวบ้านจะเตรียมข้าวต้ม ขนม อาหารคาวหวาน หมาก พลู และบุหรี่ไว้
๒. วันแรม ๑๔ ค่ำ เดือน ๙ ชาวบ้านจะไปวัดตั้งแต่เวลาตี ๔ นำสิ่งของที่เตรียมไว้จัดใส่กระทงหรือเย็บเป็นห่อเหมือนข้าวสาก แล้ววางแจกตามบริเวณวัด โดยวางไว้กับพื้นดิน หรือบางคนก็ฝังดิน
๓. ชาวบ้านกลับบ้านเพื่อเตรียมอาหารทำบุญที่วัดอีกทีหนึ่ง เมื่อพระสงฆ์ฉันเช้าเสร็จก็จะเทศน์ฉลองบุญข้าวประดับดิน

สาระ
