วัดพะโคะ ตั้งอยู่ตำบลชุมพร อำเภอสทิงพระ อยู่ห่างจากสงขลา 48 กิโลเมตร เป็นวัดจำพรรษาของ สมเด็จพะโคะหรือหลวงพ่อทวดเหยียบน้ำทะเลจืด ซึ่งประชาชนให้ความนับถือเป็นอันมาก สร้างประมาณ พ.ศ.500 เล่ากันว่า วันหนึ่งมีโจรสลัดแล่นเรือเลียบมาตามฝั่ง เห็นสมเด็จพะโคะเดินอยู่มีลักษณะแปลกกว่าคนทั้งหลายจึงใคร่จะลองดี โจรสลัดจอดเรือและจับสมเด็จพะโคะไป เมื่อเรือแล่นมาได้สักครู่เกิดเหตุเรือแล่นต่อไปไม่ได้ ต้องจอดอยู่หลายวัน จนในที่สุดน้ำจืดหมดลงโจรสลัดเดือดร้อน สมเด็จพะโคะสงสาร จึงเอาเท้าซ้ายแช่ลงไปในน้ำทะเลเกิดเป็นประกายโชติช่วง น้ำทะเลกลายเป็นน้ำจืด โจรสลัดเกิดความเลื่อมใสศรัทธากราบไหว้ขอขมา และนำสมเด็จพะโคะขึ้นฝั่ง ตั้งแต่นั้นมาประชาชนจึงพากันไปกราบไหว้บูชากันเป็นจำนวนมาก ภายในวัดมีโบราณสถานสำคัญคือ พระสุวรรณมาลิกเจดีย์ศรีรัตนมหาธาตุ ซึ่งภายในบรรจุพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ
