ในปัจจุบัน โรงงานแป้งมันสําปะหลังหลายแห่งในประเทศไทย ขาดการบริหารจัดการโลจิสติกส์ภายในโรงงานที่มีประสิทธิภาพส่งผลให้กระบวนการภายในตั้งแต่การจัดซื้อวัตถุดิบจากเกษตรกรเข้าสู่โรงงานล่าช้า ส่งผลกระทบโดยตรงต่อกระบวนการอื่นๆ ที่เกี่ยวเนื่อง เช่น การแปรรูป การจัดการคลังสินค้า และการจําหน่าย ซึ่งนอกจากจะสะท้อนถึงต้นทุนการผลิตของโรงงานที่มากขึ้นแล้ว ยังมีผลกระทบต่อต้นทุนการจัดการโลจิสติกส์ที่สูงขึ้นของประเทศโดยรวมตามไปด้วย
งานวิจัยนี้ พัฒนาระบบบริหารจัดการโลจิสติกส์ภายในโรงงานแป้งมันสําปะหลัง โดยใฃ้เทคโนโลยี RFID เพื่อจัดการรถบรรทุกหัวมันสดให้มีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น ครอบคลุมการจัดการรถเข้าสู่โรงงาน จัดการรถในคิวรอชั่งหนัก จัดการการชั่งหนัก จนถึงรถออกจากโรงงาน และใช้เทคโนโลยี Web Service เพื่อการเชื่อมโยงระบบจัดการโลจิสติกส์ภายในและระบบงานภายในของบริษัทฯ ที่มีอยู่ (ระบบ ERP) สําหรับการใช้ข้อมูลร่วมกัน จากการทดลองพบว่า ระบบที่พัฒนาสามารถลดระยะเวลาในกระบวนการจัดซื้อวัตถุดิบ ลดจํานวนและภาระของพนักงานในการปฏิบัติงานและสามารถพัฒนาระบบสารสนเทศให้สามารถเชื่อมโยงแบบ Real Time เพื่อควบคุมคุณภาพและต้นทุนการผลิตให้สามารถแข่งขันทั้งภายในและภายนอกประเทศได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ
