น้ำตกแห่งนี้ถือว่าเป็นน้ำตกประวัติศาสตร์ คือพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว เคยเสด็จประพาสเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2454 ทรงพระราชทานนามว่า "น้ำตกอนัมก๊ก" เพื่อเป็นที่ระลึกถึงองค์เชียงสือ กษัตริย์ญวนที่เคยเข้ามาลี้ภัยจากการจราจลในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 1
