ปราสาทนครหลวง ตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น้ำป่าสักฝั่งทิศตะวันออก ในเขตตำบลนครหลวง เดิมเป็นตำหนักที่ ประทับของกษัตริย์ในระหว่างเสด็จไปนมัสการพระพุทธบาทสระบุรีและเป็นที่ประทับแรมในระหว่างเสด็จไปลพบุรี สันนิษฐานว่าสร้างในสมัยสมเด็จพระเจ้าทรงธรรม แต่มาสร้างเป็นที่ประทับก่ออิฐถือปูนในรัชสมัย สมเด็จพระเจ้าปราสาททองเมื่อพ.ศ.2147 พระองค์โปรดให้ช่างถ่ายแบบมาจากปราสาทศิลาที่เรียกว่า “พระนครหลวง”ในกรุงกัมพูชา นำมาสร้างใกล้กับวัดเทพจันทร์เพื่อเป็นการเฉลิมพระเกียรติที่ได้กรุงกัมพูชา กลับมาเป็นประเทศราชอีก แต่สร้างไม่เสร็จสมบูรณ์ด้วยประการใดไม่ปรากฏ ต่อมาจึงมีผู้สร้างมณฑปและ พระบาทสี่รอยขึ้นบนปราสาทนี้ ส่วนตำหนักที่สร้างอยู่ข้างปราสาทนี้ได้ปรักหักพังไปหมดแล้วสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาสยามบรมราชกุมารี ได้ทรงพระกรุณาเสด็จพระราชดำเนินมาทรงประกอบพิธีฯเปิดเมื่อ พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๘



ประวัติปราสาทนครหลวง
