การรวมกันเป็นกลุ่มอาเซียน+3 จะเป็นการนำไปสู่การจัดตั้งประชาคมเอเชียตะวันออกในอนาคต ซึ่งชาติสมาชิกทั้งหมดจะร่วมมือและสนับสนุนกันในด้านต่างๆ โดยมีความร่วมมือ 6 ด้านที่จะต้องเร่งผลักดัน ดังนี้
