A typical venturi throat is shown in Figure 4. Particulate matter, which accelerates as it
enters the throat, is driven into the slow moving, large water droplets that are introduced
near the high velocity point at the inlet of the venturi throat. The adjustable dampers in
the unit illustrated are used to adjust the open cross-sectional area and thereby affect the
speed of the particles entrained in the inlet gas stream.
