บัณฑิตนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษากระบวนการผลิตและศึกษาแนวทางการปรับปรุงผังโรงงาน บริษัท เอ็ม.เค.แอล จำกัด ซึ่งทำการศึกษาขั้นตอนกระบวนการผลิตและระยะทางการผลิตในกระบวนการผลิตสีทาบ้าน โดยมีกระบวนการผลิต 5 ขั้นตอนใช้ระยะทางในการผลิต 33เมตร ซึ่งพบว่ามีขั้นตอนกระบวนการทำงานที่เกิดความล่าช้า จึงหาสาเหตุที่ทำให้เกิดความล่าช้าโดยใช้หลักการตั้งคำถาม Why-Why Analysis ซึ่งพบว่าต้นเหตุของปัญหามาจาก 2 สาเหตุคือ 1) ไม่มีการจัดระเบียดแผนกต่างๆในการผลิตทำให้เกิดความล่าช้าในการผลิต 2) ทำให้ขั้นตอนในการผลิตแต่ละขั้นตอนไม่มีความต่อเนื่องกันเกิดความล่าช้าในการผลิต เนื่องจากระยะทางในแผนกในการเคลื่อนย้ายในแต่ละแผนกไม่มีความต่อเนื่องกันเกิดความล่าช้าในการเคลื่อนย้าย โดยได้ดำเนินการปรับปรุงแก้ไขปัญหาโดยใช้หลักการความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกิจกรรม ในการปรับปรุงผังโรงงาน โดยให้แผนกที่มีความสัมพันธ์กันอยู่ใกล้กันจากการปรับปรุงทำให้ลดระยะทางทั้งหมด 11.5 คิดเป็น 41 เปอร์เซน
