ความเป็นมา

ด้วยการที่ราษฎรได้รวมตัวกันน้อมเกล้าถวายที่ดินแด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว จำนวน 300 ไร่ จึงมีพระราชดำริพร้อมมอบทรัพย์ส่วนพระองค์ จำนวน 60,000 บาท ให้กรมชลประทานก่อสร้างอ่างเก็บน้ำเขาเต่า เมื่อปี พ.ศ.2505 ซึ่งนับเป็นโครงการตามพระราชดำริแห่งแรกของกรมชลประทาน
