ในอดีต ประเทศไทยมีสภาพภูมิอากาศที่ดี ไม่ร้อนและไม่หนาวจนเกินไป แต่ในปัจจุบัน สภาพภูมิอากาศของประเทศไทยได้เปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างมาก จากที่มีสภาพภูมิอากาศที่ดีกลายเป็นร้อนถึงร้อนมาก เนื่องมาจากภาวะโลกร้อนที่เกิดขึ้นโดยการทำกิจกรรมต่างๆ ของมนุษย์ เช่น การเผาผลาญถ่านหินและเชื้อเพลิง การตัดไม้ทำลายป่า ซึ่งเป็นการเพิ่มจำนวนก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ให้มากขึ้น สาเหตุเหล่านี้ล้วนส่งผลทำให้เกิดโรคระบาดต่างๆ เกิดภัยธรรมชาติที่รุนแรงมากขึ้น และเกิดสภาพภูมิอากาศที่ผิดแปลกไปจากเดิม ในอนาคตคาดว่าผลกระทบของภาวะโลกร้อนจะรุนแรงมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ หากมนุษย์ยังไม่ช่วยกันลดการเกิดภาวะโลกร้อน
