วัดศรีชุม เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของอุทยานประวัติศาสตร์สุโขทัย ตั้งอยู่ห่างจากวัดพระพายหลวงไปทางทิศตะวันตกประมาณ 800 เมตร อยู่นอกกำแพงเมืองเก่าสุโขทัยทางด้านตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือ คำว่า "ศรี" มาจากคำพื้นเมืองของไทยคำว่า "สะหลี" หมายถึง "ต้นโพธิ์" เมื่อมารวมกันเป็น "ศรีชุม" จึงหมายถึง "ดงต้นโพธิ์" นั่นเอง

เอกลักษณ์ที่โดดเด่นของวัดแห่งนี้ก็คือวิหารเก่าแก่ โอบล้อมไปด้วยต้นไม้สีเขียวขจี เป็นอาคารรูปสี่เหลี่ยมลักษณะคล้ายมณฑป ไม่มีหลังคา เพราะพังทลายลงมาหมด มีการสันนิษฐานว่าหลังคานั้นมีลักษณะเป็นรูปโค้งคล้ายโดม เมื่อไม่มีหลังคาจึงเหลือแค่เพียงผนังสี่ด้าน มีการก่ออิฐถือปูนอย่างแข็งแรงมั่นคง ไม่มีหน้าต่าง
