สำหรับภาพรวมของธุรกิจการบินของไทยในปี 2556-2558 นี้ ศูนย์วิจัยกสิกรไทย มองว่า จะยังคงมีความคึกคักต่อเนื่อง ด้วยแรงหนุนจากภาคการท่องเที่ยว ทั้งจากการขยายตัวของผู้โดยสารในประเทศและระหว่างประเทศ นอกจากนี้ ธุรกิจการบินของไทยยังได้รับแรงขับเคลื่อนจากกระแสการเข้าสู่ AEC ในปี 2558 และการแข่งขันของธุรกิจสายการบิน โดยเฉพาะธุรกิจสายการบินต้นทุนต่ำทั้งในประเทศและในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก โดย ศูนย์วิจัยกสิกรไทย คาดว่าในปี 2556 จะมีจำนวนเที่ยวบินมาทำการบินท่าอากาศยานสุวรรณภูมิและท่าอากาศยานดอนเมือง ซึ่งเป็นท่าอากาศยานหลักและรองของประเทศ รวมทั้งสิ้น 440,178 เที่ยวบินเพิ่มขึ้นร้อยละ 16 เมื่อเทียบกับปีที่ผ่านมา และคาดว่าในปี 2557-2558 จะมีการขยายตัวของเที่ยวบินกว่าร้อยละ 10 และ 11 ตามลำดับ โดยมีปัจจัยหลักที่สนับสนุนการเติบโตคือ การก้าวเข้าสู่การเป็นประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน หรือ AEC ในปี 2558
