งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการสร้างชุดปลูกพืชโดยไม่ใช้ดิน (Soilless Culture) ขนาด 1x1 เมตร จำนวน 25 ช่องปลูก ให้มีต้นทุนต่ำกว่าราคาท้องตลาดทั่วไป พร้อมคุณภาพที่เหมาะสมกับพื้นที่การใช้งาน โดยศึกษาระบบปลูกผักไฮโดรโปนิกส์แบบปลูกในวัสดุปลูก (substrate culture) ซึ่งเลือกผักกาดขาวมาใช้ในการปลูก ในระยะเวลาในการปลูก 45 วัน เปรียบเทียบกับการปลูกผักในดิน เพื่อคำนวณหาจุดคุ้มทุน
