การตรวจวัดปริมาณน้ำฝนจากกรมอุตุนิยมวิทยามีทั้งที่เป็นแบบอัตโนมัติและแบบใช้คนตรวจวัด ส่วนใหญ่เป็นระบบการตรวจวัดที่ต้องอาศัยคนเป็นผู้ตรวจสอบ ซึ่งในการวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและแกแบบเครื่องวัดปริมาณน้ำฝนซึ่งทำการทดลองในวันที่ 26 ถึง 27 เมษายน 2558 โดยใช้เซนเซอร์วัดระดับน้ำ ทำการศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างค่าที่อ่านได้จากเซนเซอร์วัดระดับน้ำกับปริมาตรน้ำฝน เปรียบเทียบปริมาตรน้ำจากกระบอกตวงกับปริมาตรน้ำที่แสดงผลทางจอ LCD และเปรียบเทียบการหาปริมาณน้ำฝนจากสูตรกับปริมาตรน้ำฝนจากกระบอกตวง
