องค์กรภาคประชาชนเพื่อสันติเเละเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง ๔ จชต. เกิดจากการรวมตัวของตัวแทนอาสาสมัครต่าง ๆ เช่น อาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขหมู่บ้าน อาสาสมัครพัฒนาหมู่บ้าน กลุ่มอาชีพ ตัวแทนเยาวชน ผู้นำศาสนา ในพื้นที่ ๓ จังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ และ ๔ อำเภอของจังหวัดสงขลา ก่อตั้งอย่างเป็นทางขึ้นเมือเดือนมิถุนายน ๒๕๔๗
