การหมักย่อยไร้อากาศแบบแห้ง เป็นเทคโนโลยีกำจัดขยะที่กำลังได้รับความนิยมเพิ่มมากขึ้น เนื่องจากทำให้เกิดมลพิษน้อยกว่าการเผาและฝังกลบ ( Lou and Nair,2009 ) ซึ่งเหมาะกับขยะที่ไม่ผ่านการคัดแยกและยังสามารถย่อยขยะจำพวกอินทรีย์แล้วให้เกิดเป็นก๊าซชีวภาพ
โดยงานวิจัยนี้มุ่งเน้นการศึกษาการเกิดก๊าซชีวภาพโดยการหมักย่อยไร้อากาศแบบแห้งที่เดินระบบแบบ Plug-Flow และการกวนผสม โดนเน้นให้เกิดการกำจัดขยะอย่างถูกวิธี และยังเป็นแนวทางในการแก้ไขวิกฤตการด้านพลังงานอีกด้วย
