มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏภูเก็ต นำโดยคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี ร่วมกับ คณะเทคโนโลยีการเกษตร คณะครุศาสตร์ สำนักวิทยบริการและเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ หน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชนในจังหวัดภูเก็ต ได้ร่วมกันจัดงานสัปดาห์วิทยาศาสตร์แห่งชาติครั้งที่ 27 ขึ้น ในระหว่างวันที่ 18-20 สิงหาคม 2557 ณ มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏภูเก็ต จังหวัดภูเก็ต ภายใต้หัวข้อ “จุดประกายความคิด พัฒนาชีวิต ด้วยวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี” เทิดพระเกียรติพระบิดาแห่งวิทยาศาสตร์ไทย กระตุ้นและส่งเสริมให้นักเรียน นักศึกษา เยาวชน ประชาชนทั่วไป ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี ในวันนี้ น.ส.สมหมาย ปรีชาศิลป์ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดงาน มีแขกผู้มีเกียรติ คณะครู อาจารย์ นักเรียน นักศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏภูเก็ต และจากสถานศึกษาต่างๆ ให้ความสนใจเข้าร่วมงานจำนวนมาก ภายในงานมีการจัดทรรศการด้านวิชาการของสาขาวิชาต่างๆ และจากหน่วยงานภายนอก และนอกจากนี้ นอกจากนี้ยังจัดให้มีการประกวด และการแข่งขันต่างๆ เช่น การประกวดภาพวาดจินตนาการทางวิทยาศาสตร์ การประกวดภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี การประกวดสิ่งประดิษฐ์ทางวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
จุดประสงค์งานนี้คือ เพื่อ กระตุ้นและส่งเสริมให้นักเรียน นักศึกษา เยาวชน ประชาชนทั่วไปได้ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
