เขื่อนอุบลรัตน์

พระธาตุขามแก่น
สร้างขึ้นประมาณต้นพุทธศตวรรษที่ 25 ตั้งอยู่ในวัดเจติยภูมิ ตำบลบ้านขาม ตามประวัติโดยย่อกล่าวว่าโมริยกษัตริย์เจ้าเมืองโมรีย์ซึ่งเป็นเมืองอยู่ในอาณาเขตของประเทศกัมพูชา มีความประสงค์ที่จะนำพระอังคารของพระพุทธเจ้าที่พระองค์ได้ไว้เมื่อครั้งพระพุทธเจ้าปรินิพพานใหม่ๆ มาบรรจุพระธาตุพนม จึงโปรดให้พระอรหันต์และพระเถระเจ้าคณะรวม 9 องค์นำขบวนอัญเชิญพระอังคารมาในครั้งนี้ เมื่อผ่านมาถึงดอนมะขามแห่งหนึ่งซึ่งมีต้นมะขามใหญ่ที่ตายแล้วเหลือแต่แก่น เนื่องจากเป็นเวลาพลบค่ำแล้วและบริเวณนี้ภูมิประเทศราบเรียบดีจึงหยุดคณะพักชั่วคราว รุ่งเช้าจึงเดินทางต่อไปถึงภูกำพร้าปรากฏว่าพระธาตุพนมได้สร้างเสร็จแล้ว จึงเดินทางกลับและตั้งใจว่าจะนำพระอังคารธาตุกลับไปประดิษฐานไว้ที่บ้านเมืองของตน แต่เมื่อเดินทางผ่านดอนมะขามอีกครั้งปรากฏว่าแก่นมะขามที่ตายแล้วนั้นกลับยืนต้นแตกกิ่งก้านผลิใบเขียวชอุ่มเป็นที่น่าอัศจรรย์ คณะอัญเชิญพระอังคารธาตุจึงพร้อมใจกันสร้างเจดีย์ครอบต้นมะขามนี้ พร้อมกับนำพระอังคารธาตุและพระพุทธรูปบรรจุไว้ในองค์พระธาตุและให้นามว่าพระธาตุขามแก่นมาจนทุกวันนี้ พระธาตุขามแก่นถือว่าเป็นโบราณสถานที่สำคัญของจังหวัดขอนแก่น ทุกปีในวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 6 จะมีงานฉลองและนมัสการพระธาตุเป็นประจำ



วัดพระพุทธบาทภูพานคำ

พิพิธภัณฑ์ไดโนเสาร์ภูเวียง
ตั้งอยู่ที่ตำบลในเมือง อำเภอเวียงเก่า เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของศูนย์ศึกษาวิจัยซากดึกดำบรรพ์ไดโนเสาร์ภูเวียง ก่อตั้งโดยความร่วมมือระหว่างการท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทย (ททท.) ขอนแก่น และกรมทรัพยากรธรณี เพื่อศึกษาค้นคว้าและเผยแพร่ความรู้ด้านทรัพยากรธรณีสู่สาธารณชน เพื่อการอนุรักษ์ เพื่อประโยชน์ของสังคมและส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวให้เกิดการพัฒนาแบบยั่งยืนต่อไป อาคารพิพิธภัณฑ์แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ส่วน คือ ส่วนบริการ ได้แก่ ร้านขายของที่ระลึก ห้องอาหาร ห้องบรรยาย ส่วนวิชาการ ได้แก่ ห้องปฏิบัติการ ห้องทำงาน ห้องสมุด และส่วนนิทรรศการ ได้แก่ ห้องจัดแสดงชั้นล่างและชั้นบน จัดแสดงนิทรรศการการกำเนิดโลก หิน แร่ ซากดึกดำบรรพ์ และหุ่นจำลองไดโนเสาร์










ปราสาทเปือยน้อย
