อยู่ที่บ้านเชียง ตำบลบ้านเชียง แบ่งเป็น 2 ส่วน คือ
ส่วนที่ 1 ตั้งอยู่ด้านขวาของทางเข้า อยู่ในบริเวณวัดโพธิ์ศรีใน เป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์เป็นที่เป็นแหล่งโบราณคดีแห่งแรกในประเทศไทย เป็น นิทรรศการถาวรซึ่งแสดงขั้นตอนการขุดค้นทางโบราณคดีที่ยังคงลักษณะของศิลปวัตถุที่พบตามชั้นดิน
ส่วนที่ 2 ตั้งอยู่ด้านซ้ายของทางเข้า เป็นอาคารที่จัดแสดงเกี่ยวกับเรื่องราวและวัฒนธรรมของ บ้านเชียงในอดีต ตลอดจนเครื่องใช้ที่แสดงถึงเทคโนโลยีในสมัยโบราณ นอกจากนั้นภายในบริเวณอาคารส่วนที่ 2 ยังมีห้องนิทรรศการ ห้องบรรยาย ฉายภาพยนตร์ ฉายภาพนิ่งและการให้บริการการศึกษาต่าง ๆ การเดินทางไปจากตังจังหวัดเพียง 55 กิโลเมตร ตามเส้นทางหมายเลข 22 (อุดรธานี-สกลนคร) ตรงกิโลเมตรที่ 50 เลี้ยวเข้าสู่ทางหลวงหมายเลข 2225 อีกประมาณ 6 กิโลเมตร ก็จะถึงพิพิธภัณฑ์ ซึ่งเปิดให้เข้าชมทุกวัน เว้นวันจันทร์ตั้งแต่เวลา 9.00-16.00 น.
