จากพระราชนิพนธ์ที่อันเชิญมากล่าวอ้างนี้ จะเห็นได้ว่า สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ทรงตระหนักถึงความจำเป็นที่มนุษย์ทุกคนที่เกิดมาย่อมจะต้องแสวงหาความรู้หรือการศึกษาทุกรูปแบบ เพื่อให้ได้มาซึ่ง "ปัญญา" ที่สามารถนำมาใช้ในการแก้ปัญหาที่เป็นต้นเหตุแห่ง "ทุกข์" ได้ เพราะพระองค์ท่านเปรียบปัญญาดุจแสงสว่าง และทรงขยายความไว้ว่า "...ตามหลัก วิทยาศาสตร์ คนและสัตว์จะมองเห็นสิ่งต่าง ๆ ได้จะต้องมีแสงสว่าง เช่น ถ้าเรานำเอาขวดใบหนึ่ง ไปตั้งไว้ในห้องที่มิดชิด แสงสว่างลอดเข้าไม่ได้ แม้เราจะรู้ว่ามีขวดอยู่ในห้องนั่นก็จริง แต่เราก็ไม่สามารถมอง เห็นขวดนั้นได้ เนื่องด้วยแสงสว่างจากนอกห้องไม่สามารถลอดเข้ามาในห้องได้แต่ปัญญานั้นไม่ว่าจะอยู่ที่ใดเวลาใด ย่อมสามารถส่องนำทางให้แก่มนุษย์ได้ แสงธรรมดาจากดวงอาทิตย์ ดวงไฟ หรือแหล่งกำเนิด อื่น ๆ ก็ตาม ไม่อาจทำให้บุคคลที่สายตาพิการมองเห็นได้แต่แสงแห่งปัญญานั่นอาจทำให้ทุกคนมองเห็นได้..." หมายความว่า ปัญญาทำให้คนเราเห็นสิ่งที่จำเป็นในการดำรงชีวิตได้
