กรมทางหลวงชนบทได้ดำเนินการก่อสร้างสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำจันทบุรีที่บริเวณปากแม่น้ำอำเภอแหลมสิงห์ เพื่อสนับสนุน ส่งเสริมศักยภาพการท่องเที่ยวเพิ่มเส้นทางขนส่งสินค้าทางการเกษตรร่นระยะเวลาในการเดินทางของประชาชนในพื้นที่ อำเภอแหลมสิงห์ อำเภอท่าใหม่ อำเภอเมือง และอำเภอนายายอาม ให้สามารถเดินทางเลียบชายฝั่งทะเลโดยรถยนต์ถึงกันได้โดยไม่ต้องเดินทางอ้อมเป็นระยะทางไกลมากดังเช่นในอดีต โดยสะพานดังกล่าวได้ก่อสร้างแล้วเสร็จ และจังหวัดจันทบุรีได้จัดพิธีเฉลิมฉลองเปิดสะพานแห่งใหม่ให้ประชาชนทั่วไปได้ใช้อย่างเป็นทางการเมื่อวันที่ 2 พฤษภาคม 2551 โดยรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงคมนาคม เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิด มีความยาวทั้งสิ้น 1,060 เมตร ใช้งบประมาณในการก่อสร้าง 179,570,000 บาท
