หลักการเปลี่ยนเพศชายเป็นเพศหญิงมีหลักเกณฑ์ 4 อย่างคือ

1. โดยการเปลี่ยนคำทั้งคำจากเพศชายเป็นเพศหญิง เช่น Boy เป็น Girl เป็นต้น

2. โดยการเติมอาคม ess ที่ท้ายคำเพศชาย เช่น Prince เป็น Princess เป็นต้น

3. โดยการเติมคำที่เป็นเพศหญิงข้างหน้านาม จะกลายเป็นเพศหญิง เช่น Boy-friend

เป็น girl-friend เป็นต้น.

4. โดยการเติมคำที่เป็นเพศหญิงข้างหลังนามจะกลายเป็นเพศหญิง เช่น Grand-father

เป็น Grand-mother เป็นต้น.
