การปั้นโอ่งกรรมวิธีการปั้นโอ่ง

โอ่ง มังกรของจังหวัดราชบุรี มีวิธีการปั้นเหมือนกับโอ่งของจังหวัดอื่น ๆ จะต่างกันด้านการเคลือบโอ่งและการเขียนลายมังกรซึ่งมีขั้นตอนในการปั้นอยู่ 6 ขั้นตอน คือ การเตรียมดิน การขึ้นรูป การเขียนลายบนโอ่ง การเคลือบโอ่ง และการเผาโอ่ง ซึ่งมีลายละเอียดดังนี้
ดินที่ใช้ปั้นโอ่งจะต้องเป็นดินเหนียว แต่ต้องนำมาหมักไว้ในบ่อดินสองหรือสามวันเพื่อให้ดินอ่อนตัวทั่วถึงกันทั้ง ก้อน เมื่อเอาดินเหนียวขึ้นมาจากบ่อหมักแล้วก็นำเอาดินเข้าเครื่องนวดใส่ทราย ละเอียดลงไปผสมตามอัตราส่วน ดินเหนียวสองส่วนทรายหนึ่งส่วน
เมื่อใส่ส่วนผสมเรียบร้อยแล้วก็นวดให้ดินเป็นเนื้อเดียวกัน ดินที่ได้จากการนวดนั้นจะไม่แข็งหรือเหลวเกินไป ดินนวดแล้วจะกองเป็นดินกองใหญ่ เวลาจะนำไปปั้นโอ่งต้องใช้เครื่องมือตัดแบ่งดินออกจากดินกองใหญ่ เครื่องมือตัดดินนี้ช่างปั้นเรียกว่า เหล็กตัด

การเตรียมดิน
ขั้นตอนที่ 1
