อาจารย์ ดร. ดุษฎี สีวังคำ อาจารย์มหาวิทยาลัยสยามได้ทำการศึกษาวิจัยเรื่อง “การพัฒนาแบบจำลองการสอนทางไกลบนอินเทอร์เน็ตสำหรับมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนในประเทศไทย” ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของดุษฎีนิพนธ์ระดับปริญญาเอกหลักสูตร Ph.D. Technical Education Technology หรือ ปรด. เทคโนโลยีเทคนิคศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าพระนครเหนือ การศึกษานี้เป็นการเตรียมความพร้อมในการจัดการศึกษาทางไกล และได้วิเคราะห์ประสิทธิภาพของแบบจำลองที่พัฒนาขึ้นในหลายด้าน ในด้านหนึ่งของการศึกษานี้พบว่า ประสิทธิภาพของระบบการสอนทางไกลบนอินเทอร์เน็ตขึ้นอยู่กับความรับผิดชอบของผู้เรียนอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ หมายความว่า ถ้าผู้เรียนมีความรับผิดชอบสูงระบบการศึกษาทางไกลก็จะมีประสิทธิภาพให้ผู้เรียนสำเร็จการศึกษาได้มาก และเป็นเช่นเดียวกันในทางกลับกัน
