วัดท่าการ้อง ตั้งอยู่บริเวณริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา เป็นวัดโบราณมีมาแต่สมัยอยุธยาตอนกลาง โดยการรวมวัด 2 วัดเข้าด้วยกัน คือ วัดท่าและวัดการ้อง สร้างขึ้นก่อนราว พ.ศ. 2092 โดยไม่ปรากฏหลักฐานการสร้าง มีเพียงบันทึกในพระราชพงศาวดารว่าพม่าได้มาตั้งค่ายที่วัดการ้อง ถึง 2 ครั้ง คือ สมัยพระมหาจักรพรรดิ เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2106 โดยพระเจ้าตะเบ็งชเวตี้ได้ยกทัพมาตั้งค่ายที่วัดการ้องเมื่อคราวสงครามช้างเผือก และอีกครั้งคือสมัยพระเจ้าเอกทัศ โดยเนเมียวสีหบดีแม่ทัพพม่าเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2310
ต่อมาในยุคปัจจุบันเมื่อสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 วัดท่าการ้องได้ถูกดัดแปลงเป็นโรงเรียนนายร้อยฝ่ายช่างเทคนิค โดยได้ใช้ศาลาการเปรียญเป็นห้องเรียน
วัดท่าการ้อง มีจุดสนใจภายในวัดได้แก่
พระอุโบสถ ก่ออิฐถือปูนสภาพค่อนข้างสมบูรณ์ หน้าบันเป็นไม้จำหลักอย่างสวยงาม??? ซุ้มประตูและหน้าต่างประดับลายปูนปั้น ด้านหน้าอุโบสถประดับด้วยกระจกสี ภายในพระอุโบสถมี? หลวงพ่อยิ้ม หรือ พระพุทธรัตนมงคล เป็นพระประธาน ภายนอกมีกำแพงแก้วล้อมรอบพระอุโบสถ
หอระฆังสมัยพระนารายณ์ ก่ออิฐถือปูนรูปแปดเหลี่ยม
ศาลาการเปรียญเก่า เป็นเรือนไทยสมัยอยุธยาที่ยังหลงเหลือ ตั้งอยู่ด้านหลังพระอุโบสถ โดยสร้างด้วยไม้สัก
ตลาดน้ำกรุงเก่าวัดท่าการ้อง เป็นตลาดบนท่าริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยากับอาหารแบบไทยๆ
ปัจจุบันวัดท่าการ้อง เป็นวัดที่มีพระสงฆ์จำพรรษาอยู่ และเป็นวัดที่นักท่องเที่ยวนิยมแวะมาสักการะ หลวงพ่อยิ้ม หรือ พระพุทธรัตนมงคล พระพุทธรูปศักดิ์สิทธิ์ประจำวัดท่าการ้อง และความโดดเด่นอีกอย่างของวัดท่าการ้องก็คือ การตกแต่งภูมิทัศน์บริเวณวัดด้วยไม้ดอกไม้ประดับได้อย่างสวยงาม รวมทั้งมีห้องน้ำที่สะอาดโดยการตกแต่งไว้อย่างสวยงามเช่นกัน
