ประวัติเขื่อนกิ่วลม พ.ศ. 2511 กรมชลประทานได้พัฒนาลำน้ำวังโดยได้ทำการก่อสร้างโครงการชลประทานกิ่วลม เขื่อนเก็บกักน้ำ ระบบส่งน้ำและอาคารประกอบต่างๆ แล้วเสร็จในปี 2511 มีลักษณะเป็นเขื่อนคอนกรีตเสริมเหล็กแบบ Gravity Dam ตัวเขื่อนมีความสูงจากท้องน้ำเดิม 26.5 เมตร กว้าง 5.35 เมตร ยาว 135 เมตร ปริมาณเก็บกักน้ำสูงสุด 112 ล้านลูกบาศก์เมตร และต่ำสุด 6 ล้านลูกบาศก์เมตร สามารถส่งน้ำช่วยเหลือพื้นที่เพื่อการเกษตรในเขตอำเภอเมือง และบางส่วนของอำเภอเกาะคา อำเภอแม่ทะ และอำเภอห้างฉัตร มีพื้นที่ประมาณ 240,000 ไร่ และส่งน้ำเพื่อการผลิตน้ำประปาในเทศบาลนครลำปาง
