วัดบวรนิเวศวิหาร เป็นวัดที่สมเด็จพระบวรราชเจ้ามหาศักดิพลเสพโปรดให้สร้างขึ้นในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว แต่ยังไม่ทันแล้วเสร็จก็สิ้นพระชนม์เสียก่อน มีสถาปัตยกรรมแบบไทยผสมจีน ภายในพระอุโบสถมีพระพุทธรูปสำคัญอยู่ 2 องค์เป็นพระประธาน คือ พระพุทธสุวรรณเขต (หลวงพ่อโต) ที่อัญเชิญมาจากวัดสระตะพาน จังหวัดเพชรบุรี และพระพุทธชินสีห์ อัญเชิญมาจากวิหารทิศเหนือ วัดพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุวรมหาวิหาร จังหวัดพิษณุโลก ถัดจากพระอุโบสถออกไปเป็นเจดีย์กลมขนาดใหญ่ สร้างรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว หุ้มกระเบื้องสีทอง ในรัชกาลปัจจุบัน รอบฐานพระเจดีย์มี ศาลาจีนและซุ้มจีน ถัดออกไปเป็นวิหารเก๋งจีน นอกจากนี้ก็มีจิตรกรรมฝาผนังฝีมือขรัวอินโข่ง
