งานประเพณีปอยส่างลองหรืองานบวชลูกแก้ว เป็นประเพณีบวชเณรตามธรรมเนียมของชาวไทยใหญ่ เพื่อให้บุตรหลานได้มีโอกาสศึกษาพระธรรมคำสั่งสอนของพระพุทธเจ้าและมีความเชื่อว่าจะได้รับบุญกุศลจากการบวชสามเณร งานนี้จัดให้มีขึ้นช่วงเดือนมีนาคม-เมษายน ช่วงปิดเทอมฤดูร้อน โดยชาวบ้านจะตกลงกันกำหนดวันนัดหมายให้ลูกหลานได้บวชเรียนพร้อมๆ กัน
