โครงการเพาะพันธุ์ไข่หมึกคืนสู่ทะเล (บ้านดอนคดี )
จากการที่มูลนิธิพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำไทย ได้ลงพื้นที่พูดคุยกับชุมชนประมงชายฝั่งของตำบลแหลมผักเบี้ยเมื่อเดือนตุลาคม 2557 ถึงแนวทางการฟื้นฟูทรัพยากรสัตว์น้ำทางทะเล และแนวทางการเพาะขยายพันธุ์ไข่หมึกเพื่อคืนสู่ทะเล
บัดนี้ความสำเร็จเบื้องต้นได้เริ่มขึ้นแล้ว โดยสามารถเพาะพันธุ์ไข่หมึกได้ 3 ชนิดคือ 1.ไข่หมึกกระดองลายเสือ 2.ไหมึกกระดองก้นไหม้ 3. ไข่หมึกกล้วย ซึ่งไข่หมึกทั้ง 3 ชนิดมีลักษณะเป็นพวง เมื่อถึงเวลาไข่จะมาไข่ติดเอาไว้กับเครื่องประมง เช่น ตาข่ายดักปลา ตาข่ายดักปู และลอบดักปู
ไข่หมึกเหล่านี้จะไม่มีโอกาสฟักเป็นตัวได้เลย เนื่องจากชาวประมงต้องเก็บหรือกู้เครื่องมือเหล่านี้ขึ้นจากทะเลทุก 2-3 วัน แล้วนำเอาไข่หมึกเหล่านี้มาปลดทิ้ง ทั้งที่เสียดายแต่ยังไม่รู้ว่าจะทำอย่างไรกับไข่หมึกเหล่านี้ดี
จากการพูดคุยถึงแนวทางมาประกอบกับองค์ความรู้และภูมิปัญญาที่ชาวประมงมีอยู่เต็มเปี่ยม จึงได้ร่วมกันหาอุปกรณ์และวิธีการเพาะพันธุ์ให้ออกเป็นตัวก่อนแล้วจึงปล่อยคืนสู่ทะเลต่อไป วันนี้ชาวประมงบ้านดอนคดี ทำสำเร็จแล้วในเบื้องต้น และได้ปล่อยลูกหมึกคืนสู่ธรรมชาติแล้วทั้ง 3 ชนิด เมื่อวันที่ 18 ธันวาคม 2557
จากวันนี้จะเริ่มดำเนินการจัดทำฐานข้อมูลจดบันทึกและการจัดหาอุปกรณ์ที่เหมาะสมในการเพาะขยายพันธุ์ต่อไป
