วัดท่าแขกเป็นวัดเก่าแก่โบราณกาล ตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น้ำโขงห่างจาก อำเภอเชียงคาน

วัดท่าแขกสร้างขึ้นในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาตอนปลาย ตรงกับรัชสมัยของสมเด็จพระนารายณ์ พ.ศ.2209
ตรงกับ จุลศักราช 1028 วันเสาร์ ขึ้น 9 ค่ำ เดือน 5 ปีมะเมีย ตามหลักศิลาจารึกตัวหนังสือ กล่าวว่า
