งานเทศกาลหิมะที่ซัปโปโร หรือ Sappor

งานเทศกาลหิมะที่ซัปโปโร หรือ Sapporo Snow Festival (ภาษาญี่ปุ่นเรียกว่า Yuki-matsuri) เป็นไฮไลท์ที่สำคัญของเมืองซัปโปโร จ.ฮอกไกโด ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เริ่มจัดตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1950 ในปีนี่้ พ.ศ. 2558 เทศกาลหิมะซัปโปโร สโนว์เฟสติวัล (The 66th Sapporo Snow Festival 2015) จัดขึ้นเป็นครั้งที่ 66 งานจะมีวันที่ 5-11 ก.พ. 58
โดยตอนแรกมีแค่นักเรียน 6 คนจากโรงเรียนในบริเวณใกล้เคียงมาปั้นรูปปั้น 6 ชิ้น ด้วยหิมะในสวนโอโดริ ต่อมาในปี ค.ศ.1955 กองกำลังป้องกันตนเองของญี่ปุ่นเข้ามาร่วมด้วยโดยสร้างรูปปั้นหิมะขนาดยักษ์ขึ้นเป็นครั้งแรก ทำให้คนเริ่มสนใจมาดูกันมากขึ้น
ต่อมาในปี ค.ศ. 1974 เริ่มมีการแข่งขันปั้นรูปปั้นหิมะโดยทีมจากประเทศต่างๆ รวมทั้งได้มีการขยายพื้นที่จัดงานออกเป็นหลายที่หรือหลาย site ซึ่งแต่ละที่ก็มีลักษณะแตกต่างกัน ได้แก่  Odori site จะเป็นที่รวบรวมผลงานปั้นและแกะสลักหิมะ ส่วนอีกสองที่ คือ Tsudome site จะเป็นลานกว้างสำหรับทำกิจกรรมและมีรูปปั้นหิมะโชว์ และที่Susukino site ก็จะเป็นรูปสลักจากก้อนนํ้าแข็ง (ice sculpture) คล้ายๆ ที่เห็นตามงานแต่งงานในบ้านเรา งานเทศกาลหิมะที่ซัปโปโร (Sapporo Snow Festival) ได้รับความนิยมไปทั่วโลก
